SAIL Initiative is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to funding expert addiction medicine care for those suffering from substance use disorder. SAIL Initiative provides financial and organizational support for Breeches Buoy Addiction Medicine Service. The team of medical providers at Breeches Buoy knows the way and meets each patient at a critical time offering hope and compassion as patients begin the journey to healing.
The team at Breeches Buoy Addiction Medicine Service provides acute care for critically ill patients. Most of these patients seek care at UNC Health Southeastern with overdose, acute withdrawal, substance induced mood disorders and active substance use during pregnancy.
Expert Medical Diagnosis
Breeches Buoy Addiction Medicine Service provides these critically ill patients with an expert medical diagnosis, supervised by a physician board certified in Addiction Medicine and provides ongoing assistance with access to care through Clinical Peer Support Specialists. Acute outpatient care is provided during the interval between hospital discharge and the start of recommended treatment.
Why is Financial Support Needed?
I tried to get help from doctors who were not experts in addiction, I was left without treatment and sometimes worse. What I see today is that the care and treatment plan provided to me by the Breeches Buoy Addiction Medicine team in the hospital gave my brain a chance to heal and wake up so that I could realize who I really am. I am a woman alive and at peace and able to be of service to those around me.
